A non-commercial, non-profit forum for information in English about moving to or living in Ecuador.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
An alternative to the one size fits all Yahoo group network of sharing resources.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
1995 for a band I managed.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It fit the theme and was available.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
There is very little information about Ecuador available for expats. Most are either travel sites or real estate sites.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Just to provide a good resource. It is non-profit.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Sorry, but I can't look at it like that. This is a community service project.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would hire someone to do SEO.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Honestly no...I would need assistance, but it's a forum which can have as many moderators as there are topics.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Community participation, but it's new.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's not, since this is not a business.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Roughly 2 months.
